French maeva will rebuild Vacansoleil brand
The trustees of Vacansoleil have sold Vacansoleil's brand and domain name to maeva, through its label maeva campings. maeva is the online travel agency of the Pierre & Vacances-Center Parcs Group. maeva will rebuild the camping offer on the Vacansoleil site following its bankruptcy two weeks ago.
maeva intents to rebuild the business step by step. The goal in doing so is to scale up as quickly as possible. Director Nicolas Beaurain of maeva: "maeva's business concept fits very well with Vacansoleil's activities. Vacansoleil is a good and strong brand with more than 50 years of experience in the European camping market. We are very happy to keep this brand and give it a new future. Not only in the Netherlands, but also in other European countries. Through this acquisition, maeva aims to contribute to the dynamism of this camping distribution market. We are going to work hard on that in the coming months."
maeva will initially take over eight to ten Vacansoleil employees. They will become the quartermasters of the new Vacansoleil. Trustee Ben Arends: "Today we have informed the employees that a complete relaunch of the entire organization is unfortunately not feasible. The current solution is the most sensible one we could realize for Vacansoleil at this moment. At least Vacansoleil and the business concept really get a new chance.”
maeva is not taking over Vacansoleil's organization and accommodations. The trustees will sell these at a later stage.
